Add a LoRa Device
Log in as username root.
The list of LoRaWAN™ devices managed by the gateway is available in the Linux file
/etc/trace-lora/fleet.json
. To
change this list, set the current file directory to
/etc/trace-lora/.
To add or remove devices, you must edit this file by
double clicking on
fleet.json
, then, add or delete content enclosed in brackets, and finally save the resulting file, as
shown in the example below.
For the modifications of the configuration file to be taken into account, the lora-agent must be restarted. To do so,
open a terminal emulator window by clicking on
Applications
menu and selecting
Terminal Emulator
, then enter:
systemctl restart trace-lora-lora-agent
For each device, the following fields must be completed inside brackets:
DevEUI
: global end-device ID in IEEE EUI64 address space that uniquely identifies the end-device. It is
provided by the device manufacturer.
Type
: type of the device. It is used for the optional local message processing (python language), you are
free to choose the string. It can be unique or the same for multiple devices requiring the same message
processing.
Process
: Yes to indicate that you want to perform message processing on the gateway.
ADR
: indicates that you allow the gateway to handle adaptive data rate for this device.
AppKey
: application key of the device, provided by the device manufacturer.
AppEUI
: application ID of the device, also called JoinEUI, used during OTAA pairing. Provided by the device
manufacturer.
CounterSize
: length in bits of the Up/Down Frame Counter used by the device. 16 or 32 bits are possible.
It is recommended to use 32 bits.
Mode
: specify if the pairing mode is ABP (Activation By Personalization) or OTAA (Over The Air
Activation). OTAA is the preferred option if supported by the device.
NwkSKey
: Network session key, only used for ABP activation. Provided by the device manufacturer.
AppSKey
: Application Session Key, only used for ABP activation. Provided by the device manufacturer.
DevAddr
: Device address in hexadecimal, only used for ABP activation. Provided by the device
manufacturer.
