Using the radio for the first time
1. Place your radio on a flat surface.
2. Insert the adaptor plug into the DC socket located on the rear of
your radio. Plug the adaptor into a standard AC outlet. If no time is
displayed, the screen will show “--:-- --”.
3. Fully extend the FM telescopic antenna located on the rear of your
radio.
4. Press and release the Standby button to turn on your radio. It may
be necessary to relocate your radio to a position giving better
reception and carry out a scan to f
i
nd stations as described in
later sections.
IMPORTANT:
The AC adaptor is used as the means of connecting the radio to
your power supply. The AC Adapter used for the radio must remain
accessible during normal use. In order to disconnect the radio from
the power completely. The AC Adapter should be removed from the
main power completely in case of severe lightning or storm.
Antenna setup for AM reception
The radio comes with a built-in AM Ferrite antenna which should be
enough for normal listening.
To
improve the AM reception, first try to rotate the unit 90 degrees,
if this doesn't help you may connect an external AM antenna (not
supplied) to the AM external
antenna terminal on the back of your radio.
Operating your radio – FM/AM auto-tune
1. Fully extend the FM telescopic antenna located on the rear of your
radio.
2. Press and release the Standby button to switch on your radio.
3. Press the Source button repeatedly to select the desired frequency
band.
4. If this is the first time searching for an FM/AM station, p
ress and
release the Tuning control knob, the
radio
will search from low
frequency to high frequency and stop automatically when it f
inds a
station of suff
i
cient strength.
5. For scanning stations backwards quickly, rotate the Tuning control
knob in an anticlockwise direction first, and then press and release
it. Your radio will scan down
the
FM/AM frequency band from the
currently displayed frequency and will stop scanning when it finds
a signal of sufficient strength. To scan up in frequency, rotate the
Tuning control knob in a clockwise direction. The displayed frequency
will increase. Then press and release
the
Tuning control knob to
carry out auto-tune. Your radio will scan up the FM/AM frequency
band from the currently displayed frequency and will stop scanning
when it finds a station of sufficient strength.
6. After a few seconds the display will update. The display will show the
frequency of the signal found. If the signal is strong enough and there
is RBDS data present then the radio may display
the station name.

nd other stations press the Tuning control knob as before.
When the end of the frequency band is reached, your radio will
recommence tuning from the opposite end of the frequency band.
8. Adjust the Volume to the required setting.
9. To switch off your radio, press and release the Standby button. The
display will show the “OFF” symbol.
