CAUTION
!
Installation of the UPS must be carried out following the instructions in this instruction manual. Improper
installation may result in an electric shock, bodily injury, and/or a fire.
In accordance with the instruction manual, install the UPS on a surface that can bear the UPS weight (15
kg). This surface should be flat so that the UPS cannot topple or fall. The possibility of vibration and shock
should be minimized at the installation location. Bodily injury may occur if the UPS falls.
Wear safety shoes during the installation. All work that involves lifting the UPS, such as mounting the UPS
on a rack or attaching stands, should be carried out by at least two persons. Bodily injury may occur if the
UPS is dropped. Take care not to strain your back.
There is the danger that the UPS could topple during relocation or installation. Always hold the bottom side
of the UPS firmly with both hands. Failure to do so may result in bodily injury.

Installation environment: Temperature -10 to +55 C (14 to 131 F), relative
humidity 20 to 90% (no condensation)
Do not install the UPS in the following locations:
Where grounding is not possible
Where the ambient temperature exceeds
55 C (131 F)
*1
A place with high humidity.
Where salt or corrosive gas is present.
Where the UPS may be subject to
vibration or physical shocks.
A dusty place
Outdoors
On a poorly ventilated rack
*2
A place that exceeds an elevation of 2,000 m
*3
On a ship or in an airplane, moving vehicle, or the like, or in some other special environment

CAUTION
!
Provide the specified space around the UPS and make sure that the air discharged from the UPS can be well
ventilated. If you mount the UPS on a rack, be sure to use a well ventilated rack. The internal temperature of the
UPS may rise, resulting in the risk of smoke, ignition, or a fire.
During installation, provide the space illustrated below around the UPS.
At least 20 cm at front: Air intake space for cooling fan
At least 20 cm at back: Air discharge space for cooling fan
A distance that does not affect CRT displays: There is slight leakage of magnetic flux. The UPS may affect CRT displays, causing
jittering or the like.
Be sure to check the screen during installation.
Allow some space from other devices which might be affected by magnetic flux.
!
A high ambient temperature may adversely affect the
service life of the UPS and batteries. Be careful not to
allow the ambient temperature to increase by providing
space around the UPS, taking into consideration the air
discharge path and the like.
For UPS maintenance, provide space of at least 1 m at
the front and at least 50 cm at the back.
Notes on UPS installation
At least 20 cm at front
Verify that the
distance does not
affect the screen
*1. The battery service life will be foreshortened if the UPS is
used in an environment where the ambient temperature
exceeds 30 C (86 F). We recommend that the UPS is
normally used and maintained at a temperature between
20 to 25 C (68 to 77 F).
*2. When attaching the UPS to a poorly ventilated rack, take
corrective action by attaching a ventilation fan motor to
the rack so that the area around the UPS can be
ventilated.
*3. When installing the UPS in a location exceeding an
elevation of 1,000 m, be sure to reduce the capacity of
the connected load equipment to less than or equal to the
value obtained by multiplying the reduction coefficient in
the table below by the rated capacity of the UPS.
