Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star C
VI.4
5.1 Putting the half-mask on
(1) Pull the loops of the holder frame to the end of the bands.
Pass the lower bands through completely until the loops
of holder frame are next to the mask cap of the half-mask
body.
(2) Pull the lower bands and the respirator hose over the
head.
(3) Put mask over mouth and nose, then put the holder
frame onto the back of the head, passing the holder
frame above the ears.
(4)
Pull the strap ends until the half-mask is firmly applied to
the face. Adjust upper and lower bands, if necessary
readjust the bands until the half-mask fits comfortably
and firmly onto the face.
5.2 Functional check
A performance and leakage test should be completed with the entire set prior to each use.
The performance test includes checking the sealed fit on the mask, correct seat of the mask
and straps and the inhaling and exhaling valves as well as a performance and leakage
test (briefly submerge the air-cleaning or waist belt unit in clear water while it is under
pressure and ready for operation). Not everyone can wear mask respirators. All persons
who ware to wear mask respirators must be medically examined in line with the requisite
industrial medicine regulations for wearers of respirators at work and in life-saving services
(“Berufsgenossenschaftliche Grundsätze für arbeitsmedizinische Vorsorgeuntersuchungen
G 26: Träger von Atemschutzgeräten für Arbeit und Rettung”; Published by A.W. Gentner-
Verlag, Stuttgart, Germany. Furthermore, the valid laws and limitations, e.g. rules on the use
of respirators BGR 190 must be observed.
5.2.1 Tightness check of the half mask
For checking the tightness breathe thoroughly. Inside the mask a slight underpressure must
be noted. In the sealing area no leaking must be felt during breathing. If necessary, the way
the mask is placed on the head must be corrected (retighten straps). Beards or low-lying
cheek bones can impair the required tight seat of the half mask - danger of poisoning! Use
is only permissible with a leak-proof half mask.
5.2.2 Visual examination of the valves
Visual examination of inhalation diaphragm: Disassemble inhalation diaphragm and exami-
ne visually. Assemble inhalation membrane behind the fixing pin. The inhalation valve mem-
brane should lie evenly on the sealing area within the mask. Ensure that the membranes do
not stick to the valve seat.
