2.2 Safety 

 
When working with the Scantool TSM 650 plate shears existing safety rules must 
be kept in order to avoid personal injury or material damage. 

A.  User 

Do not wear any loose clothing, gloves, rings, bracelets, or other jewellery to get 
caught in moving parts. Non-slip foot wear is recommended. Wear protective hair 
covering to protect long hair. 
 
Always wear eye protection. Also use face or dust mask if cutting operation is 
dusty. Glasses cannot replace eye protection. 
 
Don’t overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. 
 
Never leave tool running unattended. Turn power off. Don’t leave tool until it has 
come to a complete stop. 
 
Don’t operate tool under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any medication. 

B.  Use of Machine 

Don’t force tool. It will do the job better and be safer at the rate for which it was 
designed. 
 
Use right tool, use recommended accessories.  

C.  Adjustment 

Make all adjustments with the power off. The user should read the detailed 
instruction manual when doing adjustments and assembling the machine. 

D.  Working Environment 

Keep working area clean. Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents. 
 
Don’t use in dangerous environment. Don’t use power tool in damp or wet 
locations or expose them to rain. Keep work area well lit. 
 
Keep children and visitors away. All visitors should be kept at a safe distance from 
work area. 

E.  Maintenance 

Disconnect the machine from power source when making repairs. 
 
Check damaged parts. To read all details on trouble shooting, repair it very 
carefully and make sure the op

erator won’t get hurt or damage the machine.
