Appendix A:
Color Options for Data Collection Forms
Colors can add interest and clarity to your data collection
forms. However, it is important to choose colors that will
drop out (not be read by the scanner) properly. Specific
colors are approved, depending on whether the
respondent uses ink or pencil to fill in the forms. In
addition, if using pencil, you can use up to three colors on
your forms. See the tables in this appendix for listings of
approved colors and color combinations for ink and
pencil read forms.
