DEFINITIONS
Shut height
The distance from the top of the applicator base plate to
the bottom of the press ram at bottom dead center when
the press is under load.
This can only be accurately measured with a press analysis
device or shut height measurement tool that allows meas-
urement during a full press cycle.
Stroke
The distance the press ram travels from top to bottom in
one complete cycle.
Pre-feed
The next terminal is in position over the crimp anvil before
the crimp (pre-crimp) cycle begins.
This method is more common for bench applications be-
cause the terminal is waiting over the anvil before the wire
is introduced.
Post-feed
The next terminal feeds into position over the crimp anvil
after the crimp cycle has started (post-crimp).
This method is more common for automatic termination
applications. This method allows more time for the
crimped wire end to move out of the way before the next
terminal moves into place.
