POSITIONING OF THE MUTING SENSORS (SLC/SLG 415 I)
The Emitter and Receiver of the light curtain / light grid must be positioned in a way to prevent
access to the dangerous area without intercepting at least one light beam. The access must be
limited as far as possible to prevent intended or accidental access while muting is active, i.e. the
moving material replaces the perimeter guarding. Some indications for the correct positioning of
the light curtain / light grid are provided in the figure below:
Muting with 2 sensors
Figure 10
For the correct positioning of muting sensors 1 and 2, check the following points:
•
The two beams must be crossed and pass diagonally through the zone guarded by
the light curtain / light grid.
•
The point of intersection of the two beams must be in the dangerous area.
•
The angle between the two beams must be determined according to the size of the
object and its speed. The muting function is activated when both muting sensors are
activated within 4 seconds.
•
The object must intercept both beams. Only then the muting function is activated.
•
The two muting sensors must be intercepted continuously while the material passes
the safety device.
•
Make sure that the interception of the two beams is caused by the material
transported and not e.g. by an empty pallet.
