Installing the Front Drive Shaft

Separate the two drive shaft halves and apply multipurpose grease to all sides of the sliding members. Ensure
that drive shaft yokes, and splined shafts are dirt free. Apply grease to the snow blower and frame's splined
shafts. The drive shaft yokes use tapered pins to lock the yoke to the splined shafts. Slide the yoke onto
frame's forward splined shaft, align the tapered pin to the groove on the shaft and tighten the nut on the
tapered pin. Repeat for the snow blower gearbox's input shaft.

IMPORTANT:

 The tapered pin must align with the groove in the gearbox shaft in order to get a secure

connection.

The front drive shaft has a working range of 36" to 48" measured between the center of the cross and bearing
kits. The drive shaft is made to work properly with Schulte snow blowers if they are properly set-up. As a
precaution, carefully raise and lower the snow blower and take measurements in the raised and lowered
positions to ensure that the drive shaft remains within its working range.

Raise and lower the snow blower and check that hydraulic lines do not contact the drive shaft.

Pre-operation Check List

Check that all safety decals are in good condition

IMPORTANT:

 Check oil level in all snow blower and front mount frame gearboxes. Refer to the

maintenance section of your snow blower manual for instructions. Refer to the maintenance section of this
manual for instructions regarding the front mount frame's rear gearbox.

Lubricate the telescoping section of any drive shafts

Lubricate all grease fittings

Install tractor wheel weights if necessary

IMPORTANT:

 Before operation of the snow blower or plow, carefully read the 'Safety' and 'Operation'

sections of that machine’s Operator's Manual and the 'Safety' and 'Operation' sections of this manual.
