1 Intended use
In applications with an increased amount of dirt, a dust cover must be used
to protect the gripper against damage from penetrating substances from the
outside and heavy wear.

4 Notes on particular risks
WARNING
Risk of injury due to unexpected movements!
If the power supply is switched on or residual energy remains in the system,
components can move unexpectedly and cause serious injuries.
• Before starting any work on the product: Switch off the power supply
and secure against restarting.
• Make sure, that no residual energy remains in the system.
5 Lubricants/greasing areas
WARNING
Risk of injury due to contact with lubricants!
Lubricant may cause irritation and allergic reactions if it contacts the skin or
eyes.
• Avoid contact between lubricant and skin or eyes.
• Wear safety goggles and protective gloves.
• Observe information on the safety data sheet of the lubricant.
SCHUNK recommends the lubricants listed.
During maintenance, treat all greased areas with lubricant. Thinly apply
lubricant with a lint-free cloth.

6 Threadlocker
If not stated otherwise, screws can be secured using Loctite no. 243 or a similar
adhesive.

8 Mount dust cover
Ø
Loosen the screws (1) and remove the cover plate (2).
Ø
Screw set screws (4) into side covers (3). Make sure that they are
countersunk in the hole.
Ø
Lightly place side covers (3) with screws (5) on the side of the gripper.
Ø
Insert cover plate seals (6) with recesses facing outward.
Ø
Fasten cover plate (7) with screws (8), observing recesses for sensors.
Ø
Tighten the screws (5).
Ø
Mount seals (9) on intermediate jaws (10) (do not grease!).
Ø
Insert the centering sleeves into the base jaws of the gripper.
Ø
Grease both sides of the intermediate cover (12) and place it centered
over the base jaws on the cover plate (7).
Ø
Place intermediate jaws (10) with seals (9) on the centering sleeves in the
direction of the gripper.
Ø
Mount the gripper fingers on the intermediate jaws (10) using centering
sleeves and screws.
