Using the IPG
Your set-top may provide an Interactive
Program Guide (IPG) which organizes
programs and events into listings by
channel, theme, or title. Your cable service
provider should offer a user’s guide for this
service, if it is available in your area.
The current channel continues to display in
the upper right corner of the IPG. The
upper left corner displays information
about the highlighted program.

To view or hide the IPG, press
Guide
.
•
To view information about a program,
use the arrow keys on the remote
(
) to highlight the program.
•
To view more detailed information
about the highlighted program, press
INFO
.
•
To view the highlighted program, press
SELECT
. If you select a program that
is scheduled to occur in the future, the
set-top sets a timer to record the
program automatically. (You must have
the IR Blaster installed to use this
option. See
Attaching the IR Blaster
Cable Connector
, later in this guide.)
•
The
keys provide additional
functions that vary, based on the current
IPG screen. For example, in many
screens you can use the
A
key to change
the sort order of programs in the guide.
The IPG screen shows the functions
that are assigned to each of these keys.
Changing Your Set-Top Settings
The Explorer 3170HD Set-Top offers two
menus of settings that you can use to
configure your set-top features, based on
your preferences:
The Quick Settings menu gives you quick
access to some of the more commonly used
settings such as parental control, favorite
channel lists, and sleep timers.
The General Settings menu gives you
access to all of the quick settings plus more
advanced settings, such as on-screen
languages and Personal Identification
Numbers (PINs).

Press

once to view the
Quick Settings menu. Press
SET-
TINGS
again to view the General
settings menu. Press
SETTINGS
a
third time to hide both settings menus.

Use the arrow keys to scroll through the
settings options.
•
Press
SELECT
to change the high-
lighted setting.

Press
INFO
to learn more about the
highlighted setting.
