Connection to Centralized DC Power Systems
Only units designed and rated for connection to –48 to –60 Vdc Nominal power
sources, and provided with a Mate-N-Lock type of connector are suitable for
connection to “Centralized dc Power Systems”.
A centralized dc power distribution system (typically -48 V dc) is a power system
consisting of open batteries, charger/rectifier circuits, and primary, and secondary
distribution equipment intended to provide power to equipment loads. Two types of
systems exist:
•
Source earthed dc power systems
, in which the connection to the earthing
electrode is located at the source, and separate earthed and protective earth
conductors, are provided throughout the system.
•
dc power system earthed at the equipment location
, in which the connection to
the earthing electrode is located in the area where the load equipment is to be
installed.
