Machine safety is a direct consequence of the efficiency of the safety devices used and already
described at paragraph 2-7.
Every 2 weeks check emergency stop controls by means of an operating test:
a) with machine in normal operating conditions, press the emergency button on the control
panel. The heads and feed assemblies must be stopped by the motor brake
.
b) with the machine in normal operating conditions, press the emergency button half-way along
the machine. The heads and feed assemblies must stop.
c) machine with optional universal unit in normal operating conditions. Press the emergency
button on the universal unit. The heads and feed assemblies must stop.
d) with machine in normal operating conditions, press the emergency button on the hand
control unit. The heads and feed assemblies must stop.
Every 2 weeks check the efficiency of the micro interlock and block (electromagnet) on the hood by
means of an operating test.
a) with the machine in normal automatic mode operating conditions, the hood should not open.
b) by means of the key selector switch, pass from automatic to manual mode. After about 20
seconds (check!), the hood should open.
c) with the hood open, pass from manual mode to automatic mode. The heads and feed
assemblies should not start.
Every 2 weeks check the efficiency of the microswitch of the feed-consensus speed-change unit in
manual mode by means of an operating test:
a) with the machine in manual mode and speed-change unit set at a speed above 15 m/min, the
feed should not start, either from the control panel or from the hand control unit.
Periodically check the efficiency of the mechanical protections (tunnel, hood, grids, protections etc.),
and the condition of the plates, especially those with a yellow background.
Every 2 months or every 500 brakings (approx.), check the braking time of the motors (maximum
braking time 10 sec.). In the event of resetting of braking unit, consult the manual.
Any problems encountered during such inspections should be promptly notified to the person in
charge, who will place the machine out of commission and call maintenance staff.
