Windshield Wiper Motor Access
In the headliner above the berth there is a remov-
able rectangular hatch to access the windshield
wiper motor.
Carbon Monoxide Detector
A carbon monoxide (CO) detector is installed in
the cabin on the aft bulkhead below the AC/DC
electrical panel. If excess carbon monoxide fumes
are detected, an audible beeping will sound indi-
cating the presence of the toxic gas. This detector
is always activated when the house batteries are
connected. A green light on the detector indicates
that it is activated. Always make sure the green
light is on whenever the cabin is occupied.
A by-product of combustion, carbon monoxide is
invisible, tasteless, odorless, and is produced by
all engines and some heating and cooking appli-
ances. The most common sources of CO on boats
are the engines, auxiliary generators and propane
or butane stoves. These produce large amounts of
CO and should never be operated while sleeping.
You should read the owner’s manual supplied
by the detector manufacturer for operation in-
structions and additional information regarding
the hazards of carbon monoxide gas. Also read
more about carbon monoxide, carbon monoxide
detectors and proper ventilation in the Ventilation
System and Safety Equipment chapters in this
manual. This is especially essential if your boat is
equipped with a generator. If you did not receive a
manual for your carbon monoxide detector, please
contact the Scout Customer Service Department.
WARNING
ACTIVATION OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR
INDICATES THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE (CO)
WHICH CAN BE FATAL. EVACUATE THE CABIN IMMEDIATELY.
DO A HEAD COUNT TO CHECK THAT ALL PERSONS ARE
ACCOUNTED FOR. DO NOT REENTER THE CABIN UNTIL
IT HAS BEEN AIRED OUT AND THE PROBLEM FOUND AND
CORRECTED.
Forward Bilge Access
A slotted grate in the center of the cabin sole pro-
vides drainage for the cabin and can be removed
to access the forward bilge if necessary. Typically
this panel will only need to be removed to clean
the bilge or to service hoses or other components
that can be accessed in the forward bilge.
