Note: See Electrical Systems for additional information on
bilge pump operation.
A LOOSE DRAIN PLUG WILL ALLOW SEA WATER TO ENTER THE BILGE AND
COULD CAUSE THE BOAT TO SINK. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CHECK
THE DRAIN PLUG FREQUENTLY TO INSURE IT IS PROPERLY
TIGHTENED.
ANY OIL SPILLED IN THE BILGE MUST BE THROUGHLY REMOVED AND
PROPERLY DISPOSED OF BEFORE OPERATING THE BILGE PUMP. THE
DISCHARGE OF OIL FROM THE BILGE IS ILLEGAL AND SUBJECT TO A
FINE.
THE FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT PROHIBITS THE
DISCHARGE OF OIL OR OILY WASTE INTO OR UPON THE NAVIGABLE
WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES OR THE WATERS OF THE
CONTIGUOUS ZONE IF SUCH DISCHARGE CAUSES A FILM OR SHEEN
UPON, OR A DISCOLORATION OF THE SURFACE OF THE WATER, OR
CAUSES A SLUDGE OR EMULSION BENEATH THE SURFACE OF THE
WATER. VIOLATORS ARE SUBJECT TO A PENALTY OF $10,000.
CERTAIN BULKHEAD AREAS ARE SEALED IN ACCORDANCE WITH U.S. COAST GUARD
REGULATIONS THAT WERE IN EFFECT AT THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE OF THE BOAT.
ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THESE BULKHEADS SHOULD BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
U.S. COAST GUARD REGULATIONS.
Fishboxes, Cooler and Storage Compartment Drains
Large insulated fishboxes are located in the cockpit floor on both
the port and starboard side. The fishboxes are drained overboard
by diaphragm pumps through seacocks through the bottom of
the hull. The seacocks should stay in the closed position when
the boxes are not being pumped out. The fishbox should be
flushed out and cleaned after each use.
The console cooler is drained by gravity overboard. The cooler is
insulated and should be flushed out and cleaned after each use.
The storage compartments in the bow are in- insulated and
drained by gravity to a thru-hull fitting located in the hull side
above the waterline.
Water System Drains
The bait sink and baitwell are drained by gravity to a thru-hull
fitting in the side of the hull. The overflow of the baitwell drains
into the overboard drain system.
Anchor Locker Drains
The anchor locker drains overboard thru a small drain hole in
bottom of the locker. It is important to inspect the drain frequently
to remove any accumulated debris.
