HDD Storage Calculator
Selecting the appropriate size hard disk drive is dependent upon a number of variables including:

Frames per Second
Hours per Day to Record

6. ALARM CONNECTIONS
a. The DVR provides 1 alarm input and 1 alarm output port similar to the diagram below.

b. The alarm input has no restriction (i.e., normal can be either open or close).
c. The alarm input is a grounding alarm input. The grounding of the power supply and the
alarm sensor must be shared when using an external power supply.
d. The GND alarm detector is connected to the alarm sensor’s COM via a parallel
connection.
e. If the alarm is connected to two DVRs or connected with the DVR and other equipment it
should be isolated by a relay.
f. Regarding the alarm output, use an external power supply when using external alarm
equipment.
g. The alarm output cannot be connected with loads greater than 1A to prevent damage to
the relay. A contact isolator is required if a loads greater than 1A are used. Alarm output
