Appendix D:
OSL Calibration
The SARK-110-ULM features an OSL calibration method for higher accuracy measurements.
Calibration is performed by using a set of calibration plugs consisting of: an
O
pen circuit, a
S
hort
circuit and a calibrated
L
oad having the same value as the reference impedance. These loads
are connected sequentially to the end of the test lead as instructed on the screen as described
below.
➢
To set the reference impedance, please refer to
Setup - Z0
in the chapter 0.
The place where these loads are connected during the calibration is called the Reference Plane.

The analyzer performs a series of measurements with these loads, calculating error coefficients
that are stored in a file that is automatically loaded each time the analyzer is run. These error
coefficients are used to correct the measured values. The number of calibration points is fixed to
400.
The frequency range for the calibration can be programmed by the user, allowing setting a
narrower frequency span for higher resolution measurements.
The device supports the storage of up to eight calibration profiles. These profiles can be
associated to different test port adapters or different frequency ranges.
Press the Setup [
] button and select «Calibration»
→
«Profile» to set the active calibration
profile.
