Setting Modbus registers to be logged
If the Modbus RTU Slave / Modbus TCP-IP Server device is manufactured by Seneca, simply select
the register to be logged and assigned Modbus station address from the database.
If the Modbus device is manufactured by third parties, select “CUSTOM” and enter:
-the type of register to be logged (see previous chapters for TAG type).
-the address of the register to be logged
-the address of the Modbus RTU station to be logged or the TCP-IP address of the TCP-IP station
and port.
A TAG polling time can be entered. This setting lets you set different acquisition times for each
TAG.
If, for example, you want to acquire the value of a TAG every 10 minutes, 600s can be entered as
polling time.
CAUTION!
-Polling time for each TAG can only be met if its value is compatible with the serial request delay
time and the number of TAGS.
For example, if 10 TAG Modbus are to be logged with 1 second serial request delay time, the
complete TAG cycle takes about 10 seconds. If Polling time is set to 0,1 seconds, it cannot be
met.
Otherwise, if serial request delay time is 0,1 seconds, the full TAG cycle takes about 1 second. If
Polling time is set to 5 seconds, it can be met.
