Installation and Configuration Guide

Diagnostic Button Installation

When installed, press the Diagnostic Button to cause an alarm event to be recorded by the DVR.

To install the Diagnostic Button:

1

Determine the proper location before drilling the mounting holes. Ensure the area behind the hole is
clear of obstructions before drilling.

2

Drill a ¾" hole in the desired location.

3

Remove the mounting nut from the Diagnostic Button.

4

Feed the connector and the cable through the mounting hole and reattach the nut.

The button corresponds to Alarm 1 on the Smart-Link alarm harness. The indicator ring shows the DVR
status. See Table 2.

No green light

No power to the DVR, or ignition is not on.

Flashing green

The DVR is powered up, but not recording.

Solid green

The DVR is powered up and recording.

CAUTION: Adverse operation of the DVR

Seon does not recommend extending the power cable. Power drops created by additional wiring can cause adverse
operation of the DVR. However, if a power cable extension is required, ensure that the voltage drop does not exceed 1.0
volt by using the correct cable size. See Table 3.
Connections for power cables should be soldered and sealed to prevent corrosion and voltage drop across connections.
Once complete, ensure the DVR’s voltage display is above 11VDC with the vehicle off and the DVR recording.

Important:

Both the power and ground wires must be of increased gauge.
