Fault
Cause
Remedy
Compressor will not start
Incorrect starting
procedure
• Ensure ignition is ON
• Ensure choke lever is moved
half way.
• Check fuel level
• Check oil level
• Check if SAE15w40
engine oil is used.
Comporessor is
difficult to start
Worn or dirty
components
• Check air filter - clean if dirty
• Check fuel filter - clean if dirty
• If the recoil start handle is
“hard” to pull, it may indicate
there is too much oil in the engine.
Ensure engine oil is at the level
recommended in this manual.
• If the recoil handle is too
easy to pull, there may not be
enough compression in the
engine for it to work properly.

Pressure drop in the tank
Air leaks at
connections
Run compressor to max
pressure, switch off.
Brush soap solution over con-
nections and look for bubbles.
Tighten connections showing
leaks.
If problem persists, contact
SGS.
Pressure switch valve
leaks when
compressor is at idle
speed
Non-return valve seal
defective
Discharge air tank pressure. If
problem persists, contact SGS
Compressor does not
stop at maximum
pressure
Pressure switch fault
Contact SGS
Compressor does not
reach maximum
pressure
Filter clogged / Head
gasket or valve fault
Replace filter element / SGS
Compressor noisy with
metallic knock
Low oil level / Bearing or
piston damage
Turn OFF and top up with oil
immediately / Contact SGS
