Turning Off Your Computer
When you’ve finished using your computer, turn it off with one of the following steps:

From the
start
menu

Before using this step, confirm that the power button is enabled to shut down your
computer. Follow these instructions.
1. Open
Power Options Properties

Close the display cover to keep the screen and keyboard clean and protected.
If you have not saved data, a dialog box will appear asking whether you
want to save it.

Do not turn off or reset your computer when:
•
The hard disk, the floppy disk drive or optical drive indicator is lit.
•
The Memory Stick, Compact Flash Card or SD/SmartMedia combo
slot indicator is blinking.
Otherwise, the data may be damaged or even wiped out.
•
After turning off your computer you need to wait at least ten seconds
before turning it back on. Turning the power off and on in rapid
succession can damage your computer’s electrical circuitry.
