Appendixes
The appendixes contain additional information on the use and care of your
computer.
Converting File Format
The C: drive of your computer is formatted with FAT 32 when shipped from the
factory or after re-installation. The drive can be formatted with NTFS by following
the instructions below:
Converting to NTFS Format
Once formatted with NTFS, it cannot be re-formatted again. Re-install
the system if you want the drive formatted with FAT32.
In Windows 2000
1.
Log on to the computer with the name of the administrator.
2. From
the
Start
menu, select
Programs
–
Accessories
–
Command Prompt
.
3. Type
CONVERT
9
C:
9
/FS:NTFS
, and press
Enter
.
4.
Type the volume label of your computer and press
Enter
.You can see the
volume label of the C: drive by double-clicking
My Computer
.
5. Type
Y
and press
Enter
.
6. Type
Exit
and press
Enter
.
7. From
the
Start
menu, select
Shut Down….
8. Select
Restart
and click
OK
. The system restarts and the drive will be
converted to NTFS.
In Windows XP Professional
1. Log on to the computer with the name of the administrator.
2. From
the
start
menu, select
All
Programs
–
Accessories
–
Command Prompt
.
3. Type

Enter
.
4. Type the volume label of your computer and press
Enter
