Using the function control
About the function control screen
Using function control, you can check at a glance and change the current settings of
the following items: subtitle, angle, audio, digital gamma and digital super picture.
Function control also allows you three ways of direct skips (title, chapter and time).
Whilst the disc is playing, press the SET UP
button whilst pressing down the
SHIFT button to display the screen shown below.
Pressing the
or
button changes the currently selected item.
Note:
To exit the setup operation, press the RETURN button. This returns to the screen that
was shown before the setup screen was displayed.

8. Digital super picture
BITRATE indicates the amount of data
that is being transferred to the unit per sec-
ond.
However, note that picture quality is not
always in proportion to the bit rate.

Direct title skip (page 32)
The number of the title currently played back is displayed.
You can skip directly to the desired title.

Direct chapter skip (page 32)
The number of the chapter currently played back is displayed.
You can skip directly to the desired chapter.

Direct time skip (page 33)
Elapsed time from the beginning of the disc is displayed.
You can skip directly to the point from which you want to start playback.

Subtitle language setting (page 33)
The subtitle number and language currently selected are displayed. (When a
disc with only one subtitle is played back, “xx” is displayed.)
You can select the desired subtitle language.

Angle setting (page 34)
The current angle is displayed. (When a disc with only one angle is played
back, “xx” is displayed.)
You can select the desired angle.

Audio setting (page 34)
The type of audio currently selected is displayed.
You can select the desired type of audio.

Digital gamma setting (page 35)
You can make the entire image easier to see by brightening the darker and
obscure portions.
You can activate/deactivate the setting or change the level.

Digital super picture setting (page 35)
This function enhances the fine details of the image and outlines of the objects
by reducing the amount of picture noise.
You can activate/deactivate the setting or change the level.
Note:
In function control mode, you can return to the previous setting screen by pressing the
RETURN button or the SET UP button whilst pressing down the SHIFT button.
