Reception and copying problems
Problem
Check and remedy
The Sharp MFP doesn’t
receive documents
automatically.
••
Make sure that the reception mode is set to
FAX or TEL/FAX. If you do not subscribe to
a distinctive ring service, make sure that
Distinctive Ring is turned off. (See
Distinctive Ring
in Chapter 7.)
The power is on, but no
reception takes place.
••
Make sure that the wall socket is connected
to the TEL. LINE socket, and not the TEL.
SET socket.
The Sharp MFP appears
to answer calls, but
doesn’t print out any
faxes.
••
Faxes will be received to memory if a colour
cartridge is installed, media is loaded in the
manual sheet feeder, or a print cartridge or
paper jam problem has occurred. Check the
display for error messages. (If a document
is loaded in the document feeder, READY
TO SEND will appear. Remove the
document to allow any error messages to
appear.)
The printing paper does
not come out.
••
The printing paper may be jammed. See
Clearing jammed printing paper
in this
chapter.
The printing paper comes
out blank when you try to
receive a document.
••
Make sure that the document is loaded
properly in the feeder of the transmitting
machine. Make a copy to confirm the
printing ability of your machine.
The received document
is faint.
••
The print cartridge may need replacement.
Printing at low temperature may result in
faint printouts.
Received images are
distorted.
••
Noise on the telephone line may cause
distortion. Have the other party try sending
the document again.
••
Make a copy of another document on the
Sharp MFP. If the copy is also distorted,
your Sharp MFP may need service.
••
If the problem persists, call your dealer or
the SHARP number(s) listed on the
warranty card.
