Sharp Message Center
Introduction
The Message Center application is a single integrated application
that manages all incoming and outgoing fax messages. The Message
Center contains the Inbox and the Outbox, both activated only from
within the Message Center. The Message Center also maintains
activity logs and status logs of all fax traffic.
Message Center operates in one of two scenarios, depending on
whether or not you have Microsoft Exchange/Outlook (Windows
Messaging) installed on your PC. If Microsoft Exchange/Outlook
is installed, all received faxes are delivered to the Microsoft Ex-
change/Outlook Inbox. In this case, the Message Center Inbox is
unnecessary, and is therefore unavailable. If, however, you do not
have Microsoft Exchange/Outlook installed on your PC, incoming
faxes are delivered to the Message Center Inbox.
If Microsoft Exchange is installed on your PC:
Loading Microsoft Exchange/Outlook onto your PC automatically
installs MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface).
Essentially, MAPI enables the Send command in Windows-based
applications. This Send command permits you to send a file, as
either e-mail or fax, directly from the Windows application itself.
If Microsoft Exchange/Outlook and MAPI are installed on your
system, then the Microsoft Exchange/Outlook Inbox becomes the
delivery point for all messages (both fax and e-mail) received by
your PC. Therefore, there is no need for Message Center to display
its Inbox. In this scenario, you can view all your received faxes in
the Microsoft Exchange/Outlook Inbox. In Microsoft Exchange/
Outlook, you can easily view the fax activity logs by selecting View
and then View Fax Logs…, and then clicking either Inbox Log or
Outbox Log.
