Sharp Message Center
Should you delete a sent or a received fax from within Microsoft
Exchange/Outlook, your Message Center will still maintain a
record of that fax in either the Inbox Activity Log or the Outbox
Activity Log.
Finally, if there is a failure in sending a fax, you will see an error
message in your Microsoft Exchange/Outlook Inbox.
If Microsoft Exchange is not installed on your PC:
If Microsoft Exchange/Outlook (or Windows Messaging) is not
installed on your PC, it is very unlikely that MAPI (Messaging
Application Programming Interface) is loaded into your system.
Without MAPI, the Send command available in many Windows
applications will not function, and you will be unable to send a file (as
an e-mail attachment or fax message) directly from the application
itself. Unfortunately, without MAPI, all e-mail functions are dis-
abled.
In this scenario, your Message Center Inbox becomes the delivery
point for all faxes received by your PC. Consequently, the Message
Center Inbox is enabled for faxes.
Message Center Components
The Message Center application contains a number of windows that
may remain open or be minimized to an icon within the Message
Center main window. You may arrange your windows so they are
all completely or partially visible, but the application windows may
not be closed without exiting the Message Center. Exiting the
Message Center will disrupt all fax traffic and print jobs. The
Message Center application windows consist of the Outbox, Inbox
Activity Log, Outbox Activity Log, and Status Log. The Inbox
window will only be available if Microsoft Exchange/Outlook is
not installed on your system. The Message Center must be active
(either open or minimized to an icon) if you are to send and receive
faxes.
