Viewing documents
cannot use multiple page TIFF files, the Viewer saves only single
page TIFF files.
PCX Files
The PCX file format was initially developed by Z Soft for the PC
Paintbrush family of products. It has since been adopted by
many other software developers. PCX files are compressed
black and white, gray scale or colour bitmap files that support
numerous resolutions and image sizes. Only single image, black
and white PCX files can be imported or exported.
DCX Files
DCX files are multiple page PCX bitmap files.
BMP Files
BMP (bitmap) files are the standard Windows format for image
files. A bitmap is an expanse of dots, called pixels. Every pixel is
the same size, but can be a different colour or shade.
JPG Files
JPEG (Joint Photographics Experts Group) is a file format which
supports single-page, 8-bit gray-scale and is appropriate for
images with a wide range of colour, such as a 24-bit (millions of
colours) photograph. The .JPG format works best with photo-
graphs, naturalistic artwork and real world scenes. The JPG
format is less effective with line art, simple cartoons, etc.
Creating New Files
New files may be created similar to a blank sheet of paper to use if
you are pasting an image you have copied from another application.
You may also specify the size, image type and resolution of the new
image.
