To quickly open the New dialog box, click the New button
on the
Standard Toolbar or from the File menu select New...
Specify the following information in the New dialog box:
In the Units group, specify the length and width of the image.
You can select inches, millimeters or pixels. The units of mea-
surement that you choose will also be used to display the image
size in the Status Bar.
Inches - Unit of measure for width and length defined as
inches.
Millimeters - Unit of measure for width and length defined
as millimeters.
Pixels - Unit of measure for width and length defined as
pixels (dots).
In the Image Type group select the type of image for the new
file:
Black and White - The image will have 1 bit per pixel.
Colour - The image will have 24 bits per pixel (True colour,
over 1 million colours)
Grayscale - The image will have 8 bits (256 shades of gray)
per pixel.
In the Width field, enter the width in the units of measure you
selected.
In the Height field, enter the height in the units of measure you
selected.
Note: Height and Width fields default to standard 8.5” x
11”.
In the Resolution field, enter the resolution in dots per inch (dpi)
that you want to use for the new image.
The Image Size of the new image is displayed.
Select OK to close the dialog box and create a new empty
