If you want the linked information to be displayed as the
application's icon, check the Display As Icon box. Select the
CHANGE ICON button to use a different icon to display
the object or to change the icon's label.
Select the OK pushbutton.
The linked object will be pasted in the upper left-hand corner of
the window. If desired, you can change the position and size of
the linked object.
Updating a Link
Viewer can update information in a .ALA file whenever the linked
information changes in the source document. You can specify to
have Viewer automatically update the object whenever it changes in
the source (original) file or you can update it manually. If Automatic
is selected, the linked information is updated whenever Viewer opens
the image file or anytime the source file changes while the image file
is open. Manual links are only updated when you select the UP-
DATE NOW button in the Links dialog box.
To control how links are updated:
From the Edit menu, choose Links.
In the Links list box, select the linked information you want to
update. To select multiple links, hold down the CTRL key while
you click each link and do one of the following:
To update the linked information whenever a change is made
in the source file, select the Automatic button or;
To update the linked information only when you want to,
select the Manual button.
Select the Close button.
To update a link manually:
From the Edit menu, choose Links.
In the Links list box, select the linked information you want
to update.
