To update the linked information manually, select the Update
Now button.
Select the Close button.
Breaking a Link
When you break a link, you convert the linked object to an embedded
object. The object will remain, but will no longer be updated when
the source document changes. Once a link is broken, it cannot be
reestablished.
To break a link:
From the Edit menu, choose Links.
In the Links list box, select the link(s) that you want to break.
Choose the Break Link button.
Choose the Close button.
Reconnecting or changing a link
The “tie” that links an embedded object with its source file will be
severed if you move the source file. You can, however, reconnect
or redirect the link to different file. If you redirect the link to a new
source file, this file and the original source file must have been
created using the same application.
To reconnect or change a link:
From the Edit menu, choose Links.
Select the link you want to reconnect or change.
Choose the Change Source button.
In the Source box, type or select the file you want to use as the
new source. If the file you want to open is not in the Source box,
do one or more of the following:
In the Files of type list, select the type of file to which you
