Converting embedded objects
You can convert an embedded object to a different file format by
selecting another application to be the object's source file. This can
be useful if the source application is not installed on your computer.
In addition, some applications such as spreadsheets, can represent
their information in different ways. Convert enables you to change
the information to the different representations that the application
supports. To convert an embedded object to a different file format:
Select the embedded object that you want to convert.
From the bottom of the Edit menu, choose the name of the
object you want to convert, and then choose Convert and do one
of the following:
To permanently convert the embedded object to the file
format you specify in the Object Type list box, select the
Convert To button.
To temporarily activate all embedded objects of the selected
type in the file format you specify in the Object Type list
box, select the Activate As button. When you edit the
object, you will see the file format you specified in the
Object Type list, but when you save the object it will be
saved in its original file format.
In the Object Type list, select the file format to convert the
embedded object to.
Select the OK pushbutton.
