Using Forms Layout
You can create a template to automatically position your cursor at
specific locations on a blank form where you want to enter informa-
tion. You can define the location and size of the blank fields and the
appearance of the text. This template feature is especially useful if
you will be using the same blank form many times.
Creating a Forms Layout Template
To create a Forms Layout template you must first create an .ALA
file (image file) of the blank form you want to use as a template.
Once the .ALA file has been saved on your system, you must define
the data entry fields where information will be entered on your form.
Creating a blank form
Create an .ALA file of the blank form you want to use as a
template. The form can be created by using one of the following
methods:
Scan in a blank form using the Acquire command accessed
from the File menu.
Save a form that has been faxed to you as an .ALA file.
Create a blank form using a Windows desktop publishing or
word processor application. You are able to save the file in
the .ALA format by “printing” it and selecting the "ALA File
Driver on ALAFILE” as your printer.
Defining the data entry fields on the form template
Open the .ALA file of the blank form you want to use as a
Forms Layout template.
From the Annotations toolbar, select the Forms Layout tool
or from the Tools menu, select Forms Layout.
The cursor will change enabling you to define your the size of
your edit field.
