Turn the CONTROL dial to select
“MANUAL”, then press the dial to display
the exposure setting screen.

Turn the CONTROL dial to select the
desired exposure level.
• The number shown is the selected F-
number. You can select 15 steps from
F1.8 (most light) to F19 (least light).

Press the CONTROL dial.
• The selected exposure level appears.

Set the Manual Selection switch to
LOCK to lock the selected F-number.
• The camera recording screen appears.

Manual Exposure
Available modes:
TAPE-CAMERA, CARD-CAMERA
The camcorder is preset to Auto Exposure
mode, which automatically selects the optimal
aperture. However, when there is too much
contrast in brightness between the subject and
background, you may not be able to record a
clear image. In this case, use the manual
exposure function to correct the exposure level.
Background is too bright and subject too
dark (backlit subject).
• Increase the exposure level to allow more
light through the lens.
Subject is too bright against background.
• Decrease the exposure level to allow less
light through the lens.

In TAPE-CAMERA or
CARD-CAMERA mode,
set the Manual Selection
switch to MANUAL to
display the MANUAL
screen.

Turn the CONTROL dial to select
“EXPOSURE”, then press the dial.

To return to Auto Exposure mode
After performing step 1 and 2 above, turn the
CONTROL dial to select “AUTO”, then press
the dial.
To return to Full Auto mode
Set the camcorder to Full Auto mode (see page
53).
Note:
•
Manual Exposure mode will cancel if a scene
setting is selected thereafter.
