7-4. New drum cartridge detection system
1. General
This model employs the automatic counter clear system where the
counter is automatically cleared when a new drum cartridge is in-
serted for replacement of the old one.
The general descriptions on the operation are given below.

(1)
When intermittent gear A turns one rotation, the teeth of inter-
mittent gear B is engaged with the teeth of intermittent gear A,
rotating intermittent gear B. The position of intermittent gear B is
shifted from Fig.1 to Fig. 2.

At the second rotation of intermittent gear A, intermittent gear B
is shifted from Fig. 2 to Fig. 3 to turn on the new drum cartridge
sensor, recognizing the new drum cartridge.

At the third rotation of intermittent gear A, intermittent gear B is
shifted from Fig. 3 to Fig. 4, completing the operation. After
completion of the operation, though intermittent gear A rotates,
the teeth of intermittent gear B are not engaged with the teeth of
intermittent gear A, and intermittent gear B does not rotate.
