(1) Mirror
The following are adjustment items of the mirror unit.

I.
Summary
By setting the optical axis of the copier body and that of the lens
in parallel with each other, copy image distortion due to the lens
can be reduced.
The horizontal angle of the lens unit side shaft is changed by
changing the position of the lens unit side shaft fixing plate.
This adjustment is performed not by checking a copy image, but
by visual measurement with the mark on the optical unit base as
the reference. The copy image distortion must be adjusted not
only in this adjustment but also in the mirror parallelism adjust-
ment.
II.
Purpose
The purpose of this adjustment is to reduce copy image distor-
tion due to the lens by setting the optical axis of the copier body
and the optical axis of the lens in parallel with each other.
III.
Note
The copy image distortion adjustment is completed by making a
copy and adjusting parallelism of the mirror.
For that purpose, this adjustment must have been properly per-
formed.
IV.
Cases when the adjustment is required
1) When the lens or the lens unit is disassembled or its part is
replaced.
2) When the copy image is distorted as follows:

Adjustment procedure
1) Remove the right side cabinet (manual paper feed cabinet)
and the document reference plate, and remove the docu-
ment glass.
2) Remove the optical unit cover.
3) Loosen the fixing screw of the No. 4/5 mirror unit slide shaft
fixing plate.
4) Fix so that No. 4/5 mirror unit slide shaft fixing plate is at the
position as shown in the figure below.
5) Move No. 4/5 mirror unit slide shaft fixing plate in the direc-
tions of A and B, and fix it so that No. 4/5 mirror unit side is in
parallel with the optical unit frame side plate.
Use the scale to check parallelism.
