CHAPTER 4. NOTES FOR SERVICING
1. RESETTING THE DEVICE
(1) SOFTWARE RESET
A strong impact, exposure to an electrical field, or other unusual condi-
tions may render the SL-5500 inoperative. Pressing the keys may have
no effect. If this occurs, follow the instructions below.
1.
Set the Battery Replacement Switch to the “REPLACE BATTERY”
position and then back to “NORMAL OPERATION”.
2.
Press [Cancel] (On/Off) to restart the SL-5500. The Home screen
will be displayed.
(2) HARDWARE RESET
If the SL-5500 still fails to function after the software reset is done
shown above, you will have to do hardware reset.
Caution:Performing the hardware reset will erase all data created and
all add-on applications installed in the SL-5500.
1.
Slide the Battery Replacement Switch on the rear side of the unit to
the “REPLACE BATTERY” position.
2.
Open the Battery Compartment Lid.
3.
Push “FULL RESET” button (2~3 seconds) on the lower right side
of the battery compartment with the Stylus.
Note: Do not use an object with a breakable or sharp tip.
4. Replace the Battery Compartment Lid.
Note: Be sure to replace the Battery Compartment Lid before you use.
5. Slide the Battery Replacement Switch to the “NORMAL OPERA-
TION” position.
6. Press [Cancel](On/Off) to turn the power ON.
The Welcome screen appears.
Then, follow the next procedures to complete the initial settings.
• Adjusting the touch panel.
• Setting the date and time.
• Registering your personal information.
• Setting your pass code.
Note: • If the Welcome screen doesn’t appear, try FULL RESET again.
Also check the Battery Replacement Switch is set to “NORMAL
OPERATION” and battery is inserted correctly.
• If the battery level is low, the power will not turn on even if you
attach the AC adapter. Charge the battery to its full capacity.
2. TO INSERT THE BATTERY
1. Slide the Battery Replacement Switch on the rear side of the unit to
the “REPLACE BATTERY” position.
2. Open the Battery Compartment Lid, and gently pull it off.
3. Insert the battery on the ribbon tab, making sure that the triangle
(
e
), plus ( + ), and minus ( - ) marks on the battery are aligned cor-
rectly with those printed inside the battly conpartment.
