1 – IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURES
Note: Carefully read safety instructions before using the SPACE ADV
1.1
DANGER To avoid electrical shock, since one is often in contact with water when working with aquariums, SICCE requests that
you consider the following pre-cautionary measures:
In each of the following situations, do not try to personally make repairs, but return the article to an authorized assistance centre:
• If the Space ADV falls in water do not try retrieve it with your hands
• First pull out the plug and then recover the article
• If the Space ADV has anomalous water leaks, first pull out the plug then check the causes of these leaks.
• After installation carefully check the article. It must not be plugged in if there are wet parts which should not be wet.
• Do not use Space ADV that has a damaged plug or cable, are malfunctioning or have been damaged in any way.
• To avoid wetting the plug or socket, put the aquarium to the side of the socket, to avoid water dripping on/in the socket. The “drip
loop” should be used (see Fig. 1) for each cable making
the connection between the aquarium to a socket. The "drip loop" part of the cable is found under the level of the plug or of the
connector when an extension cord is used. It is made in such a manner to avoid that water running along the cable comes in contact
with the electricity. If the plug or socket are wet, do not unplug it, but remove the fuse or turn off the automatic switch that feeds
electricity to the equipment, then unplug it and carefully check if there is water in the electrical socket.
1.2
SICCE suggests that the aquarium should be closely watched when children are in the nearby.
1.3
The electrical plug must be detached before performing any maintenance or cleaning operations.
1.4
SPACE ADV must be used only for filtering as indicated in this instruction manual.
1.5
Do not install or place the equipment in zones that are exposed to critical atmospheric conditions or in freezing temperatures.
1.6
Read and follow all notices that are on the equipment or found in the instruction manual.
1.7
SICCE require using electric extension cords with technical characteristics that would avoid dangerous cable over-heating.
1.8
SICCE suggest placing the cable so that it will not be stepped on or torn.
1.9
KEEP THE PRESENT INSTRUCTION MANUAL WITH THE SPACE ADV FILTER.
2 - ASSEMBLY
SICCE has created with SPACE ADV a particularly flexible filter, conceived to contain any type of filtering material in separate baskets,
which is easily removed for maintenance. It allows for the use of different types of material, according to requirements.
Instructions for putting in filter material:
2.1
Remove the head by moving the 4 clamps and raise the cover by the designated points. (see fig. 2 -A/B/C)
2.2
Remove the basket where you will find 2 sponges of different densities:
• Basket 1 white 20 ppi sponge (for all models).
• Basket 2 blue 10 ppi sponge (for model 500).
• Basket 2 and 3 blue 10 ppi sponge (for models 800 and 1100).
2.3
Rinse the sponges well in running water before putting them in the corresponding basket.
2.4
We suggest replacing the activated carbon sponge (optional) after a few weeks and change it at regular intervals to avoid absorption
of polluting agents.
2.5
The central part of the filter is for biological filtration (internal tube filled with biorings). In this case, during regular filter maintenance
and cleaning, this part must not be removed so not to damage the bacterial colonies present.
2.6
The SPACE ADV has a 2 phase filtrating system:
• During the first phase, the water passes from the top towards the bottom through the vertical sponges found in the removable basket.
• In the second phase, the filtration is done from the bottom towards the top through a central channel, where biorings (standard) or
activated carbon filters (optional) are included.
2.7
Stack the baskets and put them in the filter container, then put the cover back on making sure that the O-rings are set correctly and
then close the 4 clamps.
Now the SPACE ADV is ready for installation.
3 - INSTALLATION
SPACE ADV must be connected to the aquarium through supplied flexible and rigid tubes. For a correct installation of the tubes, follow
the hereunder instructions:
3.1
Connect the corresponding flexible tube to the tap group. When this is done, push the security locks down to the final position so
that the clamps are firmly in place (see fig. 4). With the lever in the “OUT” position, push down until the tap group is in place (fig. 8).
Complete the operation by switching the lever to the “IN” position.
3.2
Place the filter correctly in its slot, making sure that the difference between the surface of the water and the base of the filter is not
more than: 150 cm for SPACE 500 or 160 cm for SPACE 800 – 1.100 (see fig. 5).
3.3
Install the rigid water in-take tube with grille, using the 2 suckers, connecting this tube with the flexible one on the connection where
“IN” is written (see fig. 6a).
3.4
Install the water out-put tube, supplied with deflector, using the other suckers. (See fig. 6b). Now connect this tube with the flexible
one and the filter primer (“OUT” on tap group).
To avoid having the filtering system in sight, the tubes should be put behind the aquarium. Check that the flexible tubes are extended
and that they are not bent. If necessary they may be shortened.
3.5
Before turning the filter on, check that all in-take and out-put tubes have their extremities in water, as indicated in fig. 6a and 6b.
4 – FILTER START-UP
A simple and functional start-up system is provided with the SPACE ADV, as seen in fig. 7 (valve “a”).
4.1
With the filter turned off and the tubes connected, as indicated in the previous paragraph ( see fig. 6a and 6b) press firmly a few times
valve “a”, until the water comes out of the in–take tube.
