Power cable
The power cable establishes the connection between the local power network and the
PC.
Power outage fallback facility
The optional power outage fallback facility consists of a circuit assembly and a battery
block. It powers the system unit during a power failure.
Power supply
The power supply unit converts the line voltage into the dc voltage required to run the
PC.
Printer
The printer is an output device on the PC. It converts the data it receives from the PC
into image information and prints this out (e.g. on paper).
Processor board
The processor board (CPU board) is the system unit's basic board. It contains, among
other things, the processor (the brain of the PC) and memory chips.
Program
A program is a series of instructions which the PC can interpret and execute. Some of
the commands in the
operating system
are small programs.
Prompt
The prompt is a message from the PC indicating that it is ready for input. Normally it
names the
default drive
, e.g. "C>". "C>" in this case is the system prompt and relates
to drive C. You can also program the prompt so that the date, time,
current directory
etc. are displayed on the screen (refer also to the user's manual for your
operating
system
).

RAM
Abbreviation for Random Access Memory. A memory in which any element can be
accessed in any given order. See
