B1.4
Electrical operation check
Refer to typical schematic diagram
illustrated in Figure 16: Typical
ground and test device schematic
on page 47 for all discussions
related to wiring or control circuits.
The schematic wiring diagram for
the specific ground and test device
may differ to suit requirements of
the user.
For the following electrical
operation check, refer to the
ground and test device rating plate
located on the front of the device,
and determine the correct control
voltage.
Control power may be applied by
use of the split plug jumper
accessory or the test cabinet
accessory, whichever is available at
the location.
B1.4.1 Insert the key into the interlock
associated with the selector switch.
Upon insertion and rotation, the
control switch shall be free and
rotatable among its three positions:
CLOSE, OFF and TRIP.
B1.4.2 The selector switch may be locked
by key or padlock only in the OFF
position. Confirm this is true.
Padlock provisions must be well
aligned in the OFF position.
B1.4.3 Refer to typical schematic wiring
diagram illustrated in Figure 16:
Typical ground and test device
schematic on page 47
for all
discussions related to wiring or
control circuits. The schematic
wiring diagram for the specific
ground and test device may differ
to suit requirements of the user.
B1.4.4 Install remote control cable and
pushbutton station. The cable plug
mates with a receptacle on the
control panel of the ground and
test device.
B1.4.5 Refer to the ground and test device
rating plate located on the front of
the device, and determine the
correct control voltage. Control
power may be applied by use of the
split plug jumper accessory or the
test cabinet accessory, whichever is
available at the location. Note that
closing electrical operation is
enabled through the selector
switch.
B1.4.6 Unlock the selector switch and
select a closing operation. Using
the pushbutton station, depress the
close pushbutton. The ground and
test device will begin charging its
closing springs. Upon reaching a
full charge, the ground and test
device will automatically close.
Confirm that the panel indicator
shows the ground and test device is
closed.
B1.4.7 The sequence allowed by the
control circuit is as follows:
l
Selector switch is in the CLOSE
position:
l
Switch contacts TS/C 11-18
and TS/C 14-15 closed.
l
Close pushbutton depressed:
l
Applies voltage to spring
charging motor (88) circuit
with voltage temporarily
blocked across an open 52Y
contact.
l
Applies voltage across 52Y
relay, causing pickup. 52Y
contact 13-14 closes to seal-
in the 52Y relay. 52Y contact
43-44 closes to energize
spring charging motor.
l
Upon reaching full spring
charge, limit switches LS21
and LS22 open to de-ener-
gize the motor. Limit switch
LS9 closes, energizing the
spring release solenoid,
52SRC.
