High-level Data Link Control - A synchronous serial protocol for
exchanging information. The default standard for serial
communications between WCCs and BCPs.

Local Area Network – A collection of devices, usually PCs or

MAC:
Media Access Control – Describes a typically hard-wired machine
address.
MODEM:
Modulator/Demodulator – A device that takes computer signals and
converts them to signals that can pass across telephone lines and
be reconverted back to computer signals at the distant end.
