Whenever a window is opened, the room controller
always switches to the
Protection
room operating
mode, i.e. the heating or cooling output is reduced to a
minimum. If a window is opened outside the "building-
in-use" period it is also possible, for example, to
arrange for this to trip an alarm in the building
automation and control system.

Protection mode
The window contact is connected directly to a digital input on the room controller (see
page 126). Alternatively an EIB/KNX window contact (connected to the bus) may be
used. The application evaluates both items of information (logic OR operation).
Since EIB/KNX window contacts are available from a variety of manufacturers, the
name of the S-mode output communication object varies accordingly.
