PROGRAM MODE
The PROGRAM Mode is used to program a device. Press the PROG key
to enter this mode. The Programmer/Tester displays the following
message.
WHICH SYSTEM?
ENT 0=XL3 1=MXL
Respond:
0
- The Programmer/Tester enters Step 1 for XL3.
1
- The Programmer/Tester enters Step 1 for MXL.
C
- The Programmer/Tester returns to the Power Up sequence.
NOTE:
For XL3 mode,
the maximum address is 30 and the dual TRI
base address must be even. The dual TRI base address must
have equal or higher priority than the second address. Also for
XL3 device types, FP-11, FPT-11, CZM, and ICP/VCP are illegal.
For MXL mode,
the maximum address is 60.
STEP 1 — ENTERING THE PROGRAM MODE
When the Programmer/Tester enters Step 1 for either the XL3 or MXL
system, the Display shows:

NOTE:
The Programmer/Tester is no longer equipped with polarity re-
versal for modules connected to the FPI-32 through the external
programming cable (TRI, MSI, CZM, VCP/ICP). The user may
have to manually reverse the polarity of the connect cable. While
in the
searching mode,
the FPI-32 display will periodically remind
the user to check/reverse the polarity of the cable connection.
CAUTION
1. TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE FPI-32, DO NOT CONNECT
CZM-1s, TRIs/MSIs, or ICPs/VCPs to the FPI-32 until all wiring is
removed from the CZM-1, term 1 and 2, the TRI/MSI, term 1 and 2,
or the ICP/VCP, TB1, term 1 and 2.
2. Only one device should be connected to the FPI-32 at a time.
