Synchronizing the Data
When you synchronize, the data on your MOBIC is compared with the data on
your host computer. The data on both computers is then updated according to the
rules set in ActiveSync.
With the default setting, ActiveSync synchronizes only the data of the applications
contacts, calendar and tasks. You can set the synchronization options when you
first set up a partnership. The ActiveSync options also allow you to activate or
deactivate synchronization for other data types.
Caution
Please make sure that the correct time zone for the country in which you are
operating the MOBIC is set otherwise data can be lost or corrupted.
Example: For Germany you would set the time zone “(GMT+01:00) Brussels,
Berlin, Rome” in the “Date/Time Properties” in the Control Panel. The “Daylight
saving time currently in effect” must only be activated during daylight saving time.
6.2.3
Establishing an Infrared Connection
You can use an infrared connection to establish a direct connection between the
mobile unit and the desktop computer quickly and simply. You only need to align
the infrared ports and establish the connection from the mobile unit. This method is
ideal for fast data exchange between several devices since no cables or adapters
need to be replaced.
Infrared connections are supported only under Windows 95/98 and Windows 2000.
How to use an Infrared Connection
1. Setting Up an Infrared Connection
Install and configure an infrared port on the host computer according to the
instructions of the manufacturer.
Note:
If you operate a computer with Windows 95, install the infrared driver of
Windows 95.
2. Change to the infrared port on the mobile device
The serial port is the standard COM port on the MOBIC. To be able to use the
infrared port, you must change the COM port on the MOBIC.
