Notes on operation
Note
Do not touch the capacitive multi-touch screen during startup
The HMI device automatically calibrates the capacitive multi-touch screen during startup.
The touch screen is locked during calibration.
Do not touch the touch screen during startup. Make sure that you do not rest on the touch
screen with the palm of your hand during startup.
Make sure that there are no conductive liquids on the touch screen during startup.
Note when operating the capacitive multi-touch screen:
●
Surface contact with a diameter of about 5 to 20 mm is required for an operator action to
be detected.
●
An operation with gloves with a material thickness of < 2 mm is detected in most cases.
However, check the usefulness of the gloves you are using.
●
To avoid incorrect operation, certain inputs are ignored and blocked from further entry:
–
Simultaneous operation with more than 5 fingers.
–
Surface contact with a diameter of > 3 cm, for example, resting the palm of the hand
on the touch screen
–
As soon as the touch screen is no longer touched, input is possible again.
Functions of the capacitive multi-touch screen
General functions
●
Detection of up to 5 finger touches at a time.
●
Recognition of the gestures supported by the operating system and the runtime software.
●
You do not need to calibrate the capacitive multi-touch screen.
Security functions in an industrial environment
The capacitive multi-touch screen is locked for security reasons when the following
disturbances occur:
●
There is a conductive liquid on the touch screen with ground contact via the enclosure or
the operator, for example.
●
An electromagnetic disturbance that exceeds the specification in the technical data of the
device exerts an influence, see section "Electromagnetic compatibility (Page 144)".
Once the interference is over, the capacitive multi-touch screen is no longer locked.
