Requirements for rugged inspection of objects
Prominent test
area
The object to be tested should be covered by the lar-
gest part of the laser line in its prominent area.
With small objects, it is meaningful to reduce the eva-
luation range of the laser line to the part of the tested
object. This can be carried out under Setting. See Sec-
tion "Basic settings", Line Length.
Object feeding
with correct
alignment
The object must be fed with the correct alignment. A
small tolerance with respect to an offset along the
laser line is permissible (± 1 mm) and does not influ-
ence the result.
Avoid widely
varying lighting
effects and
reflections
• Provide shading where lighting varies greatly.
• With strongly reflecting material, the result can be
improved by mounting the SIMATIC MV230 at a
small angle of up to 10° perpendicular to the
object surface.
