In most cases, a repeater is placed at a location where there is also an ST7 station that
includes a TIM with an integrated MD2 modem (TIM 32 or TIM 42). For this reason, the
schematics show not only the connection of two MD2s to form a repeater but also how a TIM
32 or TIM 42 is tapped into the 2-wire or 4-wire cable at the location of the repeater.
