5.5.1
Expansion of Basic Unit with Failsafe Digital Input Module
When you use the digital input module 431-8FA.. for safety-related tasks, you must always use it in
a redundant configuration (in pairs) - one module in subunit A and one module in subunit B. Eight
galvanically isolated DI channels are available for each pair of modules.
Example:
Connection of Single-Channel, Failsafe Sensors (Type B)
Insert one module into slot n of subunit A and the other module into slot n+1 of subunit B, with
n being an even number between 0 and 30 (see section 6.1).
Connect the 24 V DC supply voltage to terminals 1 and 2.
Wire the inputs with the sensors (as shown in Figure 5-12).
Parameterize the inputs in DB1.
