Procedure using the mode selector
Make sure that the CPU is in STOP operating state: The CPU display indicates the STOP
operating state: The RUN/STOP LED lights up yellow.

↔ Memory reset
The procedure described below corresponds to the procedure for a memory reset:
•
Selector operation with inserted SIMATIC memory card: CPU executes a memory reset
•
Selector operation without inserted SIMATIC memory card: CPU executes reset to factory
settings
Restore the factory settings of the CPU as follows:
1.
Set the mode selector to the STOP position.
Result: The RUN/STOP LED lights up yellow.
2.
Remove the SIMATIC memory card from the CPU. Wait until the RUN/STOP LED stops
flashing.
3.
Set the mode selector to the MRES position. Hold the mode selector in this position until
the RUN/STOP LED lights up for the 2nd time and remains lit (this takes three seconds).
Then release the switch.
4.
Within the next three seconds, switch the mode selector back to the MRES position and
then back to STOP.
Result: The CPU executes a "Reset to factory settings", during which time the RUN/STOP
LED flashes yellow. When the RUN/STOP LED lights up in yellow, the CPU has been reset
to factory settings and is in the STOP operating state. The "Reset to factory settings" event
is entered in the diagnostics buffer.
Note
Resetting the CPU to the factory settings with the mode selector also deletes the IP address
of the CPU and resets the redundancy ID to 1.
Procedure using the display
Make sure that the CPU is in STOP operating state: The CPU indicates the STOP operating
state. The RUN/STOP LED lights up yellow.
1.
Remove the SIMATIC memory card from the CPU. Wait until the RUN/STOP LED stops
flashing.
2.
To navigate to the required "Factory settings" menu command, select the following
sequence of menu commands and confirm each selection with "OK".

→ Reset → Factory settings
Result: The CPU executes a "Reset to factory settings", during which time the RUN/STOP
LED flashes yellow. When the RUN/STOP LED lights up in yellow, the CPU has been reset
to factory settings and is in the STOP operating state. The "Reset to factory settings" event
is entered in the diagnostics buffer.
