Device configuration
In the case of PROFINET, the structure of the hardware is mirrored in the TIA device

The configuration rules are as follows:
CIM
Slot 0 represents the PROFINET connection with the two ports. The CIM provides a slot for
an I/O module. The CIM module and the CIM I/O module are assigned to slot 1 and are
designed as submodules. If an I/O module is not used, subslot 1.2 remains empty.
POM
A maximum of 12 POM4220 and 12 POM4320 can be operated on one CIM.
Note
When using a 4x rack, the POM4320 be plugged starting at slot 6, when using a 12x rack, it
is plugged starting a slot 14. These slot numbers are permanently set, even if slots with
POM4220 remain empty.
In any case, a POM4220 must be plugged into slot 2.
Note
The device configuration in the project engineering must match the configuration of the HCS
that actually exists.
Otherwise no startup can take place. Exception: Use of configuration control (Configuration
control (option handling) (Page 115)).
