6.2 Remote operation using a web browser
6.2.1 DSL router, DNS server
Traditional copper lines are used to transmit data on the Internet. You need a DSL
router with integrated DSL modem for operation.
It is easier to remember names than IP addresses (32-bit). When you enter a name on
the Internet to open a page, the web browser accesses the IP address of that site
assigned by the DNS server to open a connection. The DNS server thus assigns
domain names to IP addresses.
Prerequisites to integrate the web server OZW775 in an Ethernet TCP/IP network:
•
The web server OZW775 (central communication unit) is integrated physically and
logically in the network.
•
The data points are configured (IP address, IP subnetwork address (subnet mask),
default gateway (= DSL router), DNS server).
The IP address of the web server OZW775 is static, i.e. it cannot be received
automatically (no DHCP, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).
Some Internet Service Providers block port 80. As a result, alternative ports open at the
ISP must be found.
Ports that are not 80 must be indicated in the URL. Example for port 5000 =>
